Yes, that’s right! We’ve forked out US$200 to be on John Chow’s RSS Feed. Recently, John’s been selling ad spots directly but we keep missing the ticket. Luckily there was a spot on his RSS feed so we’ve snapped it up - Told you we’d be working hard to drum up the publicity and make it worthwhile for you to buy a page on enwikopedia. With almost 8000 RSS subscribers, I’m hoping for a mini John Chow effect :P

There’s only a week to go in our evil Darth Vader contest. We’re a brand spanking new site so we’re absolutely begging for some link love :) Thanks to ALL who has participated so far!

In line with keeping the publicity campaign up and running, attracting visitors, and thus giving you all a reason to buy a wiki page, I ordered a review over at CashQuests - once described by UK’s Web User Magazine as the Root of All Evil.

Since then though, CashQuests has progressed nicely, feeding off multiple mentions on JohnChow.com, and is now ranked 28,814 in the Alexa scales

CashQuests’ review hits the spot at a few places
- I would have loved to have gotten enwikipedia.com (with the ‘i’) but the owner’s camping on the domain and won’t let go. If I had gotten it, I would still have kept enwikopedia as the main domain and just redirected enwikipedia to catch people who make the typo’s.
- The simple layout maximises the page owners freedom to design their on page. Nonetheless, though, the Main Page redesign plans have been officially moved forwards :)
It’s early days yet so I can’t divulge on whether the US$80 for the CashQuests review was a good bang for my buck or not. Let’s hope it at least keeps my Alexa on the way up :D

I contacted Phil of Contest Blogger about the Darth Vader contest and it turns out that Phil is, in his own words, “the biggest Star Wars nut in the world”. That’s lucky for us because while the Contest Blogger may not be the first and original contest blog, it certainly is the best looking one.
It turns out that someone else also has a mimobot contest. I thought he copied me but upon closer inspection, it turns out he was one day ahead of me (… or is that because he’s in the US and a day behind the rest of us??). Never mind. He’s competition is only open for US residents and is a R2-D2. Who wants to be ‘cute’ when you can win the bad ass Darth Vader instead? :p
I’ll be buying this mimobot brand new from the online shop so this contest is open to anyone who has a proper mailing address that I can fill in on their form. All postage fees included… unless you’re in Antartica or somewhere that will cost an arm and a leg.

The Alexa stats are widely regarded as useless because it only tracks people who have their toolbar installed. Who in the world would actually install such an intrusive toolbar? ZoneAlarm actually reports it as spyware and you actually need to turn off ZA momentarily to sneak the installation past its security. Sparky, the Alexa toolbar for Firefox actually crashes the very browser it was designed for - one of the only times I’ve ever had to start up Firefox in safe mode and deactivate all add-ons.
Despite all these hinderances, I have to admit, I have Alexa installed at this very moment and yes, I’ve had to switch to IE to get this working. The reason is that I’m a ‘webmaster’ and I need to check out the Alexa’s of the sites I’m looking to buy advertising from and also boost my own Alexa by visiting my own sites. So… you see, I’d say just about every website owner has Alexa and Webmasters are one of my key target markets. So alas, without further adew, I bring you the first glimsp of the Enwikopedia Alexa:

Woohoo.. It’s early days yet but Enwikopedia was ranked 56,791 yesterday and rising. You bet I’ll be working hard to keep this trend up and up and up..!

Tim Schroeder of eMonetized owns an adspot on John Chow and is giving it away free as part of his promotional campaign to get some link love to his site.
I’d love to win this competition to get a bit of a John Chow effect over here .. and so would 7666 other readers :)

A big warm hello if you’ve come here from googling Shoemoney

or Darren Rose

or John Chow

Isn’t it funny how the Cow, a parody of John Chow comes up first on google instead of the Chow himself. Hahaha
